A crisis is defined as a time of intense difficulty or danger; a period when difficult or important decisions must be made.
Crisis and chaos are real phenomena. They’re signs of end times (Luke 21) and reasons why both rich and poor commit suicide, we see an increase in drug and substance abuse, high levels of mental illnesses, increased divorce rates, etc. The root cause lies in unresolved issues.
Issues such as financial difficulties, unrealized dreams, hopes deferred, frustrations, Family problems, self-esteem issues, bullying, peer pressure, etc.
The reality of a crisis should never be ignored or denied. Face up to their existence with the view to conclusively dealing with and overcoming them.
God in Genesis 1 was faced with a situation of chaos, earth had become formless and void. There are lessons to be learned from how He dealt, for our emulation in our own times of crisis.
Whenever in a situation of chaos and trouble, you may want to do the following in the order written:
1. Calm down first. Take back your peace. All crisis has the tendency to raise your blood pressure. The devil’s goal is to unsettle you and rattle your boat. So calm down first and foremost
2. Seek to know what God’s Word has to say about your particular situation. Don’t be surprised to know that God has an opinion on every and any issue you may be faced with, find it. God’s Word is our lifeline.
3. Brood over the Word you found by God’s Spirit through meditation. When you meditate long enough, you’ll get illumination about that situation. Genesis 1:2-3; Illumination is light; it’s understanding dawning in our spirits and it brings clarity and discernment. Illumination gives you the right/God’s perspective of the situation.
4. Separate truth from lies – Genesis 1:4; Every situation is a combination of these 2 forces. Illumination from God’s Word reveals God’s purpose for that situation and this is the truth, knowing this helps you to discern the devil’s lies. It’s these lies that push people to a place of hopelessness, leading to destructive actions.
Don’t ever be confused about what’s true and what’s not. Having separated the truths from the facts, choose to think and speak only the truth from God’s perspective about the situation;
5. Genesis 1:6-8; God’s design for chaos and crisis is to ultimately draw us closer to Himself as it reveals our inadequacies and needs for a savior, God. Every crisis is a test to the next level. Hence whenever a crisis shows up, it’s time for a deeper walk with the Lord. When one stays long enough in fellowship with God, you get solutions through rhema plus perfect peace that confounds the natural man.
6. Genesis 1:9-13; 1 Corinthians 2:9-15; See, the formless and chaotic situation is a cover-up! When you unravel and unwrap, you’ll discover treasures. What’s underneath has unimaginable capacity and capabilities to not only yield blessings but those blessings have fruits and seeds in themselves to keep reproducing themselves automatically for all ages.
Your troubles and challenges are cover-ups. They seem daunting and intimidating but superior understanding is required to discern the greatness and everlasting blessings to be released when conquered. So conquer!
7. To the overcoming, you might think the victory ends with the dry-ground blessings but wait for it, it’s beyond that. There are glories of the heavenlies which supersede any earthly goodies.
8. God put an end to the chaotic situation, having created order, he then introduced the first Adam into the scene to maintain and sustain the order. Jesus is the second Adam 1 Corinthians 15:45; When Jesus is in your boat, storms may show up but be rest assured that they are non-facto as just one word from the Lord calms all storms of life.
