In my previous post, i started exploring the concept of legacy, faith and their intergenerational transfer. Please read it here: https://straighttalkwithabiola.com.ng/2024/11/02/passing-on-the-batons-of-faith-building-a-lasting-family-legacy/
Today, I will be sharing practical tips on how to pass on the batons of faith in conclusion.
Three Practical Ways
1. Model Faith-full Living: Demonstrate your faith through prayer, worship, service and character. Our lives must reflect our faith. Our children learn more through observation and we can impart them more effectively as we model our faith.
2. Share Family Stories: Document your walk with God and share stories of His faithfulness. Don’t be shy to share your struggles and challenges with your children. Involve them in praying for change of unwanted or unpalatable seasons and share with them the testimonies when it happens. Demonstrate your love for God regardless of seemingly answered prayers or not. We love God, not for things but for who He is.
3. Leave a Spiritual Inheritance: Write letters, create a family Bible or record video messages. And leave as inheritance for generations after you’re long gone. Imagine that the Bible was never written and all the exploits of those who walked with God before us were not documented? This emphasizes the importance of documenting our walk and exploits with God and the difference it can make when we leave is as spiritual inheritance for a reference for generations to come. This sure sounds like a great adventure, let me know in the comments if you agree and would be taking on the challenge.
More Tips….
1. Create a family devotion time.
2. Plan regular family service projects such as outreaches to orphans, widows, underserved in the society, the sick or evangelism.
3. Start a family journal or scrapbook.
